WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?
The Holy Spirit, the third person of the trinity, points us in the right direction as he listens to the cry of our hearts. He invites us into a Journey with Jesus as he leads us into a relationship with God. He opens the door of our lives so the life of God will flood our being with forgiveness and freedom, joy and peace. He always wants us to know the truth about Jesus. In this journey the Holy Spirit shows us our sin, but also fills us with hope that things are different because of Christ and that we are being transformed.
In coming to know God, the Holy Spirit indwells the followers of Christ and he empowers us so that we can experience changes in our views, our attitudes, our behaviour – our way of life. He gives us gifts to use in serving God and whispers guidance as we do so. He gives us peace and helps us go through the tough times of life with the assurance that he will never abandon us.
The Holy Spirit wants to make us wise so that we can live a life of discernment, seeking to shape us in ways that reflect his life of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Scripture: Jesus said, “…the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.” John 14:26
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.” Galatians 5:22-26
